1. Creative City Jinju

Jinju is a city of human rights and education. Jinju became the home of human rights while experiencing Jinju fortress battle (1592-3), Jinju farmer protestant (1892), and Hyunpyung company movement (1923). In addition, Jinju is also the base of the Nammyung School, the center of education in Western Gyeongsangnam-do, and the birthplace of the Youth Movement (1920). Jinju is a representative culture and art city. In the early of 20th century, Korea’s best artistic organization was active nationwide based on Jinju, and became the biggest traditional art school south of the Han River. Through this school, many traditional music, traditional song, and traditional dances have been inherited. Jinju sword dance is designated as a national intangible cultural heritage, and Jinju's nongak is designated as a world intangible cultural heritage. Jinju is a representative culture and art city. Jinju people enjoy the tea culture based on good tea produced in nearby Hadong. Jinju citizens enjoy the traditional art and culture in their daily life. With effort of Jinju citizens who realized the preciousness of local culture earlier, and tried to maintain, preserve and develop the local culture, Korea's first culture and art festival were held in 1949. With the slogan “let's cultivate the local culture and economy through culture and art”, Korea's biggest art contest in culture, art, and music area was held, and many artists were grown through this.

Chokseok-ru, a representative symbol of Jinju City, was expressed by drawing the Korean roof line and foundation stone with lines, and grafting text into the form of a column, showing that it is a center of traditional culture and art. Emphasizing the unique characteristics of Jinju City by expressing the color of the logo using the 7 lucky colors of Jinju City.
